Zee5 recently announced its collaboration with Dialog, which is Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity brand. This marks the first international SAARC based collaboration for Zee5 and is a huge feather in their cap. With this collaboration, the two brands aim to provide over 1,00,000 hours of content to users of the Dialog ViU app. Users only need to pay a monthly charge of 350 LKR for this and they gain unlimited access to one of the best content libraries in this region. This content library will include top original content from Zee5, like Karenjit Kaur and Zero Kms. It will also offer Bollywood films and a wide range of Tamil films and shows.
Archana Anand, Zee5’s Chief Business Officer, said “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Dialog Axiata for our launch in Sri Lanka. With over 1,00,000 hours of content across multiple genres and 12 languages, Dialog’s subscribers now have access to the largest library of Indian content that’s available in one single destination. Sri Lanka is rapidly developing into an exciting market for entertainment content, and we look forward to jointly exploring this opportunity with Dialog Axiata.”
Similarly, Mangala Hettiarachchi, who is the Senior General Manager – Global and Content Services at Dialog Axiata PLC, said “We are extremely proud to have partnered with ZEE5 so soon into their international launch. This affiliation strengthens the content portfolio offered by Dialog ViU by opening one of the region’s best content libraries to our customers. Dialog customers can now watch the best content on the best video network in Sri Lanka at any time, from anywhere, on any Internet-connected screen without commercials.”
OTT is a huge market in India and other countries
With so many new announcements regarding brands and their verticals in OTT content streaming, this is a space that one must keep a vigilant eye on. The OTT market in India alone is poised to reach a market size of 5 Billion USD by 2023. Globally, the OTT market is said to grow at a rate of 14% CAGR from 2012-2023.
In 2017, the global OTT content market size was 46.5 Billion USD. Experts estimate that this will grow to 83.4 Billion USD by 2022. With more and more consumers preferring online streaming and original content, this is hardly surprising.
In India, Netflix, Hotstar, and Amazon Prime are currently the top players in this market, followed by Zee5 and ALTBalaji.
